Album Preview: Josh Garrels’ “Home”

By

It’s no secret that many of us here at the Rabbit Room were big fans of Josh Garrels’ last album, Love & War & The Sea In Between. It remains among my personal favorite albums of all time, and Christianity Today named it the top album of 2011. Four years later, his follow-up is finally set to arrive on April 7.

Home is the name for the new set of songs, and I can tell you firsthand that they are a domesticated set, tamed from the epic, wild nature of Love & War. These songs are intimate and warm and speak of familial themes more than any other — from a love song for his wife (“Heaven’s Knife”) to a kingdom understanding of home (“At The Table”). Check out a new preview of the album below:

I hope Mason Jar returns with the album too, they certainly added that extra touch on Love & War & The Sea In Between. If Ron Block and Rebecca release their album this year as well I’ll be very happy indeed. Not to mention Andrew Osenga EP’s, Son of Laughter Album, and Sleeping at Last Atlas 2. Besides Sleeping at Last Rabbit Room has given me an abundance of music I can’t seem to get enough of. Been blasting Colony House for two weeks now.

I have been looking forward to this album! I’ve been a fan of Josh’s music for a long time. Jacaranda is another beautiful album; another one of my personal favorites right up there with L&W&TSIB (okay…that shortening might be pushing it a little bit).
