The Square Peg Alliance at Work

By

Some of you may have heard of the community of singer/songwriters known as the Square Peg Alliance. Our newest inductee is Ben Shive, as you know from a few posts ago. Thanks to everyone who placed orders for Ben’s upcoming album. If you’re on the fence about ordering the record, maybe this little video will push you over the edge.

Andrew Peterson is a singer-songwriter and author. Andrew has released more than ten records over the past twenty years, earning him a reputation for songs that connect with his listeners in ways equally powerful, poetic, and intimate. As an author, Andrew’s books include the four volumes of the award-winning Wingfeather Saga, released in collectible hardcover editions through Random House in 2020, and his creative memoir, Adorning the Dark, released in 2019 through B&H Publishing.

That was perfection. Especially with the Arrested Development reference. The Peterson boys (father included) are wacky. And was that a camera Randall was holding up to his ear?

What a way to start my day. I about popped my thyroid.

Ok, I had NO IDEA they were doing this. Actually, I showed up at Gullahorn’s the other day and he was mysteriously wearing a black cape when I walked in the door and I never got a straight answer about why. Thank you guys.

Incidentally, I went over to Gullahorn’s last night to pull a super-late-nighter and finish the recording that still needed to be done (some vocals and percussion.) I got there at 9:30 and was done by midnight. Done. So in other words, it has taken me MONTHS to get around to what amounted to less than three hours worth of work. I say this just to illustrate how close I’ve been for so long to having this record in the can and how much it means to me that you (I mean YOU!) are helping me finally complete it. So thank you, thank you, thank you.

I have been successfully swayed. How could I resist the words of a man with a camera to his ear? Oh, and the magic act just blew me away! How in the world did they do that! Sheer genius! GENIUS

Oh those Peterson boys (all three) with their shirts on their heads….holy CRAP that was awesome!!! and Ben’s great too, don’t get me wrong….

    Andy~

I must say, I’m glad that you have boys in the house.

Where else would we get thirty-somethings who put shirts on top of their heads?

I can see Jamie shaking her head in disbelief.

so will ben finally get to contribute to the rabbit room? i’ve always been slightly saddened that we never get any ponderings from the man. i think his time is past due.

The tribute to Gob Bluth was heartwarming.

    “Illusions, dad! ILLUSIONS!”

Can’t wait for the Ben Shive goodness.

I wonder what would happen if we all put 10 second clips of ourselves with our shirts on our heads saying “Ben Shiiiiiive” on YouTube? Cult rumors? Conspiracy rumors? Apocalypse rumors? What a fantastically odd marketing campaign that would be. Ben would get a lot of publicity…And by a seemingly unrelated coincidence, sales of Beavis and Butthead dvds would spike.

Yeah, seriously, I can’t believe y’all got the Great Cornholio to make a cameo in this thing.

I am a bit surprised to hear that Ben had his record “in the can”. Is that because of the superior acoustics? Corollary: did I just make the dumbest bathroom joke ever?

Nevertheless, because legend (and Jill) says he is so hot, I must purchase this album.

There’s been a serious lack of good video since the AP&CC blog wrapped. Thanks for putting this together, Square Pegs. I wish I lived closer to Nashville so I could creep you out by hanging around and watching you all the time.
