Song of the Day: Randall Goodgame

By

I should have posted this yesterday but I was busy being mugged. But, although Memorial Day has come and gone, it’s never too late to post a great song, especially when that song is about a used pair of pants.

Listen to Randall Goodgame’s “Susan Coats’s Pants” then hug a veteran (as long is it isn’t me). Randall’s War and Peace album is available at a special price today ($10CD / $7 Download) and each order comes with a free Randall Goodgame T-shirt (CD only, not downloads) (let us know if you prefer a men’s or a women’s shirt).

(Random Trivia: BDU stands for Battle Dress Uniform which sounds a lot cooler than it is.)

(Random Trivia (cont’d): This is also the album featuring Randall’s brilliant tribute to Charles Schulz’s Peanuts cartoon.)

Pete Peterson is the author of the Revolutionary War adventure The Fiddler’s Gun and its sequel Fiddler’s Green. Among the many strange things he’s been in life are the following: U.S Marine air traffic controller, television editor, art teacher and boatwright at the Florida Sheriffs Boys Ranch, and progenitor of the mysterious Budge-Nuzzard. He lives in Nashville with his wife, Jennifer, where he's the Executive Director of the Rabbit Room and Managing Editor of Rabbit Room Press.

At last, it’s available for download, As much as the T-shirt would be good, trans-atlantic shipping makes obtaining the hard copy not quite viable. Good old internet.

Look forward to completing the RG collection.

Man. I already have it! Inquiring minds want to know, though. Does the shirt refer to wearing Susan Coats’ Pants? If it does I may be tempted to buy one…

Great song, I love the line about soldiers setting folks free, that’s more like Jesus than I’ll ever be! Too true for me. Thanks for the song, Randall.

has Randall ever tracked down the real Susan Coats? Is she aware of this totally awesome diddy concerning her dungarees? Just curious. If I remember correctly, I think these famed pantaloons came from a thrift store in Columbia, MO.

Thanks everyone. And Chris, I did search for Ms. Coats for a while after acquiring her ex-pants. But I came up empty… even with the last 4 digits of her social.

    Happy Memorial Day short-week everyone.

    Randall,

We love all your music here at the Barber house, but this record will always be extra special for us. It came in the mail the same week we had our second miscarriage (at 15 wks.) and I never would have imagined images of Charlie Brown in heaven to be the thing my heart needed, but they were. Plus, the line from “Cartoon Auction” — if you love, be prepared to lose. Thanks for writing all these things so close to your heart. It really comes through in the music you make. Take care.
