A Slugs & Bugs Song of the Day

Randall Goodgame and a whole passel of other folks have been in the studio this past month putting the finishing touches on A Slugs and Bugs Christmas. I know Randall is excited about how the whole thing has come together, and today we’re giving you a first listen to one of the finished songs. If you’d like to be a patron of the record, act fast–tomorrow is officially the last day to sign up.

“Gingerbread House” from A Slugs and Bugs Christmas

Pete Peterson is the author of the Revolutionary War adventure The Fiddler’s Gun and its sequel Fiddler’s Green. Among the many strange things he’s been in life are the following: U.S Marine air traffic controller, television editor, art teacher and boatwright at the Florida Sheriffs Boys Ranch, and progenitor of the mysterious Budge-Nuzzard. He lives in Nashville with his wife, Jennifer, where he's the Executive Director of the Rabbit Room and Managing Editor of Rabbit Room Press.

I just want to say thanks to everyone who has helped make this record possible. This community is such a gift – and “A Slugs & Bugs Christmas” absolutely could not have been made without you.

I can’t wait to send out the hundreds of pre-orders when they come in. You heard Buddy Green and Jeff Taylor ripping it up on this track, and the Rabbit Room represents as our own Ron Block gets banjiggy with it as only he can on two other songs. AP is there too, along with his kids (here singing “gingerbread”) and three of the Jonathan Rogers brood.

The recording of the kids choir was definitely one of the highlights of the process, and we’ve got some video to share on upcoming blogs. Again, thank you so very much, everyone. God bless the Rabbit Room!

What a fun song! Thanks for this small taste of Christmas-y goodness. Looking forward to hearing the rest of the album in December and sharing it with the kids at church.

If this song is indicative of the quality of the rest of this project (and I’m sure it is), it’s going to be amazing. We are looking forward to Slugs and Bugs Live in the Omaha area in just a few weeks, but visions of sugarplums and an S&B Christmas in 2011 are already dancing in my head. It’s such a privilege to have the opportunity to support such worthy endeavors. I concur with RG, God bless the Rabbit Room and it’s many associates, including the next generation!

We love it!! My girls (ages 9 & 7) have been groovin’ to this and “Dizzy” all morning!!

Not sure how I missed the first post about this, but we are so excited to get our CD!

Thanks, Randall, for making good, fun music for our kiddos (and us!!)!

My 3 year old invited me to dance to “Gingerbread House” with him, and off we went. Thank you for this good fun! Cd ordered, can’t wait!

Excitement mounts throughout West Virginia and the rest of the civilized world. (WV included in civilization for those of you from Plain Virginia, or elsewhere.)

    Consider our appetites whetted.

First thought, spoken aloud, “No way! This is AWESOME!” Thanks for keeping us all up-to-date on all shades of fabulousness, Pete!

  8. Erin H.

I’m a second grade teacher at a Christian school, and ” A Slugs and Bugs Christmas” is going to be my Christmas gift to my students this year. I can’t wait for them to hear it!

  9. Pete Peterson

I can’t wait till this comes out!!! My kids are loving their “not-their-daddy” Andrew Peterson CD – “Slugs, Bugs and Lullabies” personally signed copy. 🙂
