Today we begin the Rabbit Room Advent Calendar 2016 with a verse by Jen Yokel and an image by John Hendrix. (Click the image to enlarge.)
Each week this December, The Rabbit Room will combine an image and a verse, celebrating the coming of the one who restored humanity to hope and glory! We want you to be a part of this celebration. Here’s how:
- Share the image online. We’ve formatted the image and verse so that it can easily be shared as an image on social media without clicking through to the blog.
- Share your own advent-themed art! Your favorite poems, paintings, sketches, quotes, recipes… they are all welcome in the comments section below!
The Savior has come. Rejoice!

@nmillerHaving just finished reading through the Bible in 90 Days yesterday, I love this lyric and image. It captures what my heart has been feeling these past 3 months. Excellent work, Jen and John! Praise even more the excellent story and work of Christ!

This is a beautiful endeavor. I’m wondering if there’s a word missing at the end of the verse, “to hear the call of…”?
Carrie Givens
@carriegJody – The verse is finished in the text on the image: “to hear the call of great David’s greater Son.” It took me a moment to see it, too! Then I remembered John Hendrix’s Miracle Man often has words in the images and found it!
I love this piece. Just shared it (and the project) with my church as an Advent resource.

@kalebkThat is a beautiful verse and art. Definitely can feel the power in the words.

Advent has captured me for many years now and this is a powerful piece of art and poetry! Thank you for sharing it with us and spurring us on to create during advent too!
Jen Rose Yokel
@jroseyokelYep, @carrieg is correct! Actually, I wrote the whole poem around that one line. Hendrix art is a treasure hunt. 😀
I’ve read the next two poems and they’re awesome… looking forward to seeing what they look like with the art!

I was excited to hear about the recent release of this new anthology of poetry by Christian writers –
may be an extra idea for the gift exchange –
or just all round good reading/eating of nourishing words this season of Advent…
