Chapter 18 was very difficult for me to read. The hatred in the beatings of Rev Perkins and the rest was horrific. I could not imagine that much hate in a person  and how any human being could do that to another. But seeing the reaction of Rev Perkins afterwards made me admire this man even more. His ability to love them instead of hating them comes only from his relationship with God. He saw what hate did to people and he didn’t want to be like him.
