Folks, it’s Rabbit Room Fantasy Football time again! Since I got so much grief last year for using Yahoo, we’re gonna give ESPN a go. If you want to play, post your email address here or send it to me in a PM and I’ll invite you. No experience is necessary!

Any fans of The Man in the High Castle? I just started it and it’s fascinating.

  • I have no idea what this field is for.

@rdregge – it’s taken me a bunch of tried, and I’m almost there. I’m only six short.

  • A few nights ago, during dinner, I DJed an impromptu YouTube playlist of ‘80s music. Why? Someone mentioned St. Elmo’s Fire (the weather phenomenon, not the classic Brat Pack film). That’s all it took. That was e […]

    • I cannot wait to see this movie.

    • I remember seeing this trailer a while back and getting the exact feeling you describe. So glad the movie is good, and I can’t wait to see it. Thanks, John!

    • i saw this one last night and just adored it. That moment you mentioned, when everything became bigger—that was magical. And there were so many moments throughout the film, especially when the band would play a new song for the first time, when my heart would suddenly fill up and my ribs would ache, mostly with delight, even when the story seemed to ask for a different sort of ache. “Drive It Like You Stole It” was perfect. The song, and what was happening behind the song. Really, really well written. (Ack. Those kids.)

The future wasn’t a plan; it was a promise.

Ah, but we don’t believe in destiny. 😉

    • This is crazy. I got this hankering to listen to songs from St. Elmo’s Fire just last night, songs I had not heard in forever. And I blasted them, I sang along, and I remembered being sixteen and in love.

I think I need to see “Sing Street.”

    • That was a beautiful review, John. Music, that most spectacular of God’s gifts, makes time travel every bit as possible as a flux capacitor. Much as I love the experience of being transported through time, I think I love hearing other people tell their time-travel stories even more.

And music does something else, too, something a flux capacitor cannot: it transports us through time while simultaneously connecting us more completely with our own time, and with other people.

Thank you for capturing that and much more besides.

    • Must see this. I’m at the other extreme of the spectrum – one theater movie a year if I’m lucky. >50 miles to a theater. I have Netflix and cable, but the conversations are usually over by the time I see the film. Thanks for your review, John. It’s at the top of my list.

    • We finally rented this last weekend, and it surpassed all of my expectations.
All of this business about finding one’s tribe, and forming community when you’re floating in liminal space made me think of us rabbits, of course. So when actual rabbits showed up in the movie, I was giddy.
I can’t wait to see it again. It’s on my Christmas wish list.

Google Chrome on my Macbook Pro. Os X 10.11.4.

I haven’t been able to replicate it. It went away after a refresh. Super weird.

@admin – I randomly got this today. Some kind of pop-up menu in the middle of the screen. It scrolled with the page, but didn’t go away when I scrolled past it.[attachment file=39306]
