Re: #7: Don’t computers have their own version of inherent “noise” potential? (i.e. distractions from a writer’s flow) I’m not even talking about the kind that comes from media (social or not). Sometimes I feel like the minor technical issues these machines come up with can derail any rhythm I might have had. Does anyone have any cr…[Read more]

A liturgy for opening one’s eyes the second time in the morning (liturgy for the snooze alarm)

I downloaded the album after your last post too, and this song is one of my favorites. Those vocals!
I remember being shocked by the vulnerability of the lyrics on this album on my first listen. Even (perhaps especially) if you don’t have a lick of Swedish in you, these songs are well-worth a listen.

I can’t remember if there’s a better place to report issues like this, but the links in this post don’t seem to be working for me. The links all send me to what appears to be a search of my Gmail account for bbrown@narratoronline.com. Hope this is helpful.

Thanks for doing this (the record, the interview, the post – all of it)!

Ah yes, and this reminds me of one of my favorite written moments. It is from Book of the Dun Cow, when Chaunticleer, to tend to his demoralized army, walks among them speaking each one’s name when he reaches them. Thus he brings them through their darkest night, and gives each and every one a place in their assembly. It is so powerful, and so…[Read more]

Awareness of this seems like a great thing to have. I’ve been going to job interviews lately, and the other people there often tell stories about a common, “standard” type interview question: ‘what books have you read lately,’ which is inevitably followed up with ‘why did you like this or that one.’ I was never asked this, but the thought of b…[Read more]

One of my all-time favorites, and from a Rabbit Room artist:
<p style=”text-align: center;”>You’re some new part of my brain

<p style=”text-align: center;”>Stranded in my DNA

– Melanie Penn, Circus Song

That line just captures so much of the whole song, and, for that matter, the whole album.
