Every Christmas brings back the reality of our deep deep need – and of the Father’s extraordinary provision. Thank you for praying for our family. The kindness of others – many who we don’t know – has…[Read more]

I wrote this post the morning before Christmas Eve. At 10pm that night, my husband had a stroke. Changes in circumstance can’t change what is True. We were, are, and continue to be grateful.

Wait. I know I’m supposed to be commenting on the main point of the post, but I can’t quite get there yet. Is this a re-post or something that just happened? Julie, are you and your family ok? What happened with your husband? Do you need anything? The truth of the post doesn’t change with the unexpected health crisis, but I definitely want to know what is happening and if we can help. I can at least be praying.

A liturgy for beginning a book.
A liturgy for finishing a book.
A liturgy for the first day of each season.
A liturgy for the first day of class.
A liturgy for camping out.
A liturgy for building something.
A liturgy for a first-time gathering (small group, dinner party, etc.)
Wow this is fun. What a fabulous project.

As we contemplate Slow Church, it seems appropriate that the natives are crying for slower reading. Over the past week, we’ve enjoyed rich conversation in the discussion forum, and folks have been generous with s […]

In response to @jannabarber re: “those who don’t agree” and to @carrieg re: the McDonaldization (particularly in Charlotte) and to the rest of us, here’s what I’m thinking…
Perhaps we’d all do well to acknowledge that the ideas presented in Slow Church (or in any book, for that matter), are excellent fodder for conversation and for personal…[Read more]
