    • Kevin, thanks for this trip down memory lane! I, too, was enthralled with L’Amour books. I started reading them first, then my dad picked one up and got hooked on them, so he would go to used book stores and ended up buying shelves full of the old paperbacks. They fit perfectly in the jacket pocket of the blazer I had to wear at a prep school where I had no friends–I took pride in those books as my traveling companions throughout the school day. Your essay has me hungering to revisit them after a 30+ year hiatus. And it’s a good reminder to introduce them to my kids as well.
