This is unsubstantiated gossip and non-creepy internet stalking. With that disclaimer, I am guessing that this is the fireplace in question, and I am also guessing that we are not paying that much for it. http://www.tolkienlibrary.com/tolkien-book-store/PC000025.htm
Another question- do we need to have a fundraising campaign for firewood, or can…[Read more]
Wait. I know I’m supposed to be commenting on the main point of the post, but I can’t quite get there yet. Is this a re-post or something that just happened? Julie, are you and your family ok? What happened with your husband? Do you need anything? The truth of the post doesn’t change with the unexpected health crisis, but I definitely want to…[Read more]
@wonderseeker, I will keep praying about these things. I am glad that you have seen some progress and encouragement recently, and I look forward to someday seeing the full glory of the things God is working in you through these struggles. I know it probably doesn’t feel like something glorious right now, of course, and the pain itself is not…[Read more]
@elwing, I don’t log on often enough so I am late. But I will be praying. Sometimes healing takes all the energy you have, which makes working on other projects (like writing or making music) difficult. That is ok. We all go through different seasons. But the things you are working through now, once the healing has occurred, might give you some of…[Read more]
This is lovely. I noticed the print when we were there visiting and I liked it, but I like it even more now that I know the story behind it. I love the idea that even the little things that seem so insignificant to me might have some part to play in a bigger story. Who knows what threads will be twisted together next?

As someone who hasn’t even read the book yet, this little snippet is still encouraging.
I’m very late, but it is important. I need a liturgy for dealing with life’s disappointments when something I deeply want is out of reach for me. The way I wrote that, it isn’t clear whether this is big dreams or small temporary things, but maybe that is better than what I originally intended. (My post is inspired by having to miss church today…[Read more]
Visiting Wales sounds awesome, but I am not sure I can make it work practically. We can dream, though!
I think you are probably understanding me well enough about splitting the role, but I am refining my thoughts now, so I have more to say. It may not be very useful to you, but it is giving my brain good exercise, so there is some benefit.
I understand some of the issues you are facing. I would encourage you to talk to people here or on the facebook chinwag group, because then when you get there, you may not actually have met anyone before but you WILL know people.
I was given a ticket to Hutchmoot last year less than a week before the event. Because of medical issues, I can’t…[Read more]
I have rarely, if ever, had dreams that carry a command or a message about the future. But I have had several dreams that I think have been more significant than the standard meandering “brain videos” that play at nighttime in my head. (I have a lot of those too.)
For me, my dreams are often a place where my emotions and deeper thoughts or ideas…[Read more]
I am not a writer at all, but as a reader, I have opinions. You can decide whether they are worth anything later. That is questionable, and not something I am qualified to judge.
I think there are a couple ways to approach this that can help.
One is to focus on what makes this character a human rather than a symbol. Yes, he can be a savior…[Read more]
Recently there were some requests given in the “Rabbit Room Chinwag” group on Facebook, so I’m going to put them over here as well. (Don’t worry, they aren’t personal things that people would not want repeated to a group they don’t know. These are general things, and I don’t want people who don’t have a facebook account to be left…[Read more]

I have nothing to actually say. But I am laughing, so I wanted that documented here.
Yes, last year there were several tickets circulating in the Facebook group- Rabbit Room Chinwag, if you need to find us. There may also be people talking here, but I suspect most of those conversations will happen closer to October. Most people who will end up having a schedule conflict don’t actually know it yet.
Laure’s lore is knowledge of any type. Often useless, sometimes vitally important, but anything that a librarian who lurks behind the shelves is likely to be able to find for you. (If you have read the Wingfeather Saga, she IS Madame Sidler. Really.)
A superpower that encapsulates who we are in real life and personality… hmmm… that is hard.…[Read more]
