This thread will be used to keep a sort of bibliographic record of books that Catholic Rabbits can look in to for inspiration.
There will be three successive posts. The first will be works relating directly to art and beauty. The second will be broader theology and philosophy books. The last will be works of fiction. I will do my best to update…[Read more]

A simple coffee meetup sounds just fine to me.
I’d be fine meeting at Taborspace, and I’d even be willing to help rent out the library area for that purpose, but I think it may be a bit far for some of the folks in places like Camas, WA. I’m thinking of @gypsy and @nathandetr0it in particular.
If they’re up for it, well and good. Otherwise I’d…[Read more]

So, it’s been a while since we talked about this, but who’s up for trying again on the Mini-Moot?

As an aside, the reason we eat fish on Friday was because in the ancient world fish was the food of the poor and slaves. Non-fish meat was for rich people. Because Friday is the day of the Crucifixion, we abstain from rich fare in order to honor it. Admittedly the connection is harder to see in our modern age, but that’s the origin of the tradition.

Thank you for that last thought! The two types of sets are fantastic. I’m going to use this in my RCIA class. Thanks for that image!

A few scattered responses…
“[She who] breaks a thing to find out what it is has left the path of wisdom.”
The crooked eye that lacks a perception of depth, but can make beautiful colored abstractions… That was a great element, and describes modern art in a very clear way.
Pottery seems chosen exactly because it is a 3d medium, thus…[Read more]

Totally misread this thread topic at first and posted a bunch of stuff I was going to read…
I’d suggest if you haven’t read it before to read Love and Responsibility by Karol Wojtyla, aka St. John-Paul II. It’s heavy. You will need to gnaw through this book. It’s exceedingly worth it.

Lemme know when you guys want to do the concert and I’ll schedule the potluck. If an Andrew Peterson concert happens in the Portland area I’d be down for that.

This year’s Festival of Lights has started at the Grotto in North Portland. They have a lot of family friendly events (Petting Zoo, etc.) and lots of choirs that come to sing there throughout the Advent season.
