I’m Suzanne. As often is the case, I’m late. Plan to read a past post morning and the current post afternoon until i catch up.

I love this. Thank you. Bread is rising here right now. I didn’t know why that is such a comfort to my heart.

Suzanne Tietjen replied to the topic Discussion Question: The gospel and racial attitudes in the forum Week Two: Chapters 9 – 14 2 years ago
@bastien-debbie I hear you. The Gospel seems not to work like a magic wand on groups of people (much as I might wish it to), but works in each of us as individuals through the power of the Holy Spirit as we allow. I lived in these times. My greatest-generation relatives held and taught racist views. My older sister was first to stand up for what…[Read more]

Hi from Southeast Wyoming (recently moved from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan). I’m Suzanne Tietjen, former shepherd and retired Neonatal Nurse Practitioner and currently a writer, beekeeper, gardener, and wannabe herbalist. I lived through some of the changes that began in the sixties and very much want to learn and change more. I am looking f…[Read more]

We lack liquidity right now, but that should change. I just wanted you to know I am planning to weave a “Welcome to North Wind Manor” tapestry for the wall if it meets your standards on completion. I can’t wait to gather again someday!

Just finished this. So good and so needed. And, yes, I left a review on Amazon, even though I bought my copy here. Thank you, Andrew.
I wanted to share something about the Linnea flower. You probably already know this, but it is a flower that needs community. It is self-infertile and will not make viable seed without cross-pollination from…[Read more] -

I saw The Seventh Seal when I was in college (many years ago). Deeply affected me. Loved Wild Strawberries as well. I looked them up and it turns out I haven’t seen them all. His work cuts right to my heart—don’t know why.

I have loved Bergman’s films since college (and that’s a long time ago). They shook me as well in the best way. Thank you for your beautiful take on his work. I’ve never read anything quite like it.

Suzanne Tietjen wrote a new post, How To Grow Good Wool 3 years, 6 months ago
I used to be a shepherd, keeping natural-colored sheep for their fleeces. Most sheep grow white or off-white wool, but ours, bred from the occasional black sheep any commercial shepherd would reject, grew […]

Thank you, Suzanne.
I needed this, providentially paired by our Shepherd with a thought from yesterday that got me meditating. -
The Good Shepherd. Love this.

Thanks for this. Lots to think about. All this would have been commonly known to most people when David wrote about the Lord being his Shepherd and Jesus talked about being the Good Shepherd, but most of us now are so far removed from actual care of sheep that we don’t really grasp the full implications.
-
Thank you, Suzanne, for giving us so many details–interesting in and of themselves–to cause us to praise The Shepherd for his great design, his good purposes, and his relentless faithfulness to care for us and give us constant reminders of his truth all around us. Thanks again!

I really loved reading this today. I am recovering from surgery and starting to struggle with resting instead of doing. In my mind, and I think in our culture, I equate being busy and active with doing good. This was a timely reminder that God is my shepherd and cares for me, even if I can’t see how his care is helpful at the moment. Perhaps this season of rest is for me to ruminate over all that he has been teaching/feeding me lately so I can grow stronger for the next season. Thanks again for sharing this wonderful firsthand account as a shepherd!
-
This was so engrossing, Suzanne! A simple and powerful lesson.
-
I love this eye opening perspective!
-
Just loved this. So timely for me right now. Thank you.
-
I loved reading this, Suzanne! Especially this line (what a thought!): “My care must have seemed like a mysterious hardship to them—“What does it take to satisfy this shepherd?”

Success – after two more tries. Kicked me off in the middle too. It’s almost certainly me – these kinds of thing happen to me all the time. At least the order went through today. Yay!

Having a frustrating evening trying to shop the Black Friday sale in the RR store. Forgot my password. Asked for links tried to reset twice, got “password reset error”each time and the third time I tried, I got locked out for too many attempts. Will try later but may miss the great deals. I need to remain a Luddite (if I’m using that right). I…[Read more]

Is anyone else getting spam messages on here? I reported two about a month ago to @admin but didn’t hear anything back. Today I got another one. Classic phishing stuff. Can anything be done? Is everyone just deleting these when they happen?

Dear Laure (@mrs-Hittle),
That was so lovely. I, too, was sore afraid. And then was comforted.
All that you said was true.

@admin I’m receiving spam messages from some scammer called @Sarkar on here. I didn’t open them but haven’t deleted them yet either. I have a screenshot but can’t remember how to upload it. Can you help or advise? Thanks.
