An Introduction to Michael Logen

I’ve been meaning to introduce you to a new singer-songwriter for some time, so I’m glad to finally get the time to officially do so. Reader, meet Michael Logen.

If you’re a fan of whipsmart pop songs and artists like Matthew Perryman Jones, you’re going to love Michael Logen’s music. I first heard Michael’s music as I pulled back into Nashville after a road trip. I’ll never forget cresting the hill on I-65 that brings Lightning 100 onto the radio, and hearing the introduction to Michael’s song “Paper Thin.” Immediately, I wanted to hear it again, and yet I could also sing the chorus again right there and then, having memorized it so quickly.

Michael is one of those songwriters in Nashville who gives away the credit to other performers. He’s penned songs for Kelly Clarkson and Sister Hazel, Will Hoge and Jonny Lang. He co-wrote “City of Black and White,” the title track of Mat Kearney’s album. He also co-wrote “It’s Alright” with Thad Cockrell and Brandon Heath, a song from Heath’s Leaving Eden album. You’ve also heard his songs on Nashville, Parenthood, One Tree Hill, and a dozen other television shows and movies.

Most recently, Michael took some time to record and release a brand new album, New Medicine. It’s his first solo album in eight years, and it’s available for pre-order now at PledgeMusic. Check out the video below for more details. Any friend of Matthew Perryman Jones or Thad Cockrell will find himself in familiar territory.
