This is a sneak peek of the outro of “Beautiful One (Nowhere),” one of the new songs that will be on Far Side Of The Sea. I started writing this song the night I learned my aunt was killed in an early morning car accident. Several weeks later, I made the acquaintance of a father coping with the sudden death of his teenage son. He mentioned that one of the things he missed most was playing hide-and-seek with his boy, that he wished Dillon were still alive to “sneak and surprise” him. I know of no other way to describe “Beautiful One” other than that it is my Ecclesiastes, an acknowledgment of the drastic and deeply felt hollowness of losing a loved one, of living with an ache that seems to have no meaning, gives no answer, and has no end.
