Many thanks to those who are taking the time to read and discuss Slow Church with us. Who could have guessed that the timing of our study together would have been so, well, timely. I’m grateful to be a part of this community which takes serious the business of caring well for our fiercely beautiful, but badly broken, world.
In an effort to promote the art of slow reading, we’re going to pause for another week before starting to discuss Section 3: Economy. In the interim, make time to listen to Pastor Dave Huber as he addresses the events of the past few weeks and our mandate to become agents of justice. His words bring to life many of the ideas found throughout Slow Church. In particular, Pastor Huber’s discussion of justice, mercy, and gratitude paint a vivid picture of what it means to “love thy neighbor.” And our neighbors are in deep need of being loved.
“Our communities can only flourish in as much as their weakest members flourish. And so whatever resources or power we have at our disposal, we must give them away to our neighbors in need, because we owe it to them as beings made in God’s image.” –Dave Huber
As always, we’d love to hear your thoughts in response.
